The Story Behind the Lens

Before she picked up a camera, Susan Gunn was a paramedic — someone trained to find clarity in chaos. That instinct never left her. It just found a new home along the Gulf Coast.

She works in territory most photographers won't attempt: single-exposure lightning, Milky Way astrophotography, and intentional camera movement along Florida's Scenic Highway 30A and Santa Rosa Beach. The vast majority of her work is captured in a single frame, in-camera — no composites, no stacking. Where post-processing does come into play, it's used the way a painter uses a brush: to bring forward what the moment already held. She is, more than anything else, an artist. She just paints with a camera instead.

Every print in her collection is a limited edition. When an edition sells out, it's gone permanently.
